    Default Found a...

When I was walking in a field to gather some native grasses and small insects for my Brazilian cherry-headed
red-foot tortoise, I found an animal, a very silent animal
I picked it up and brought it back to my home

    Maybe a cat
    What do you think?

Wow. I have no idea what it could be. But it doesn't look like a cat to me. I could be wrong. The two front teeth seem to big for a cat. Maybe it was someones small dog that got lost. Poor thing. May it R.I.P .I would ask a vet.

    It looks like a cat...

The the canine teeth are quite long like that, plus they have those tiny little incisors. They also have pointed molars. The shape of the head and the big round eye sockets are kind of a give away, too.

Cats and tegus are my favorite animals. I think cats are just amazing and they have really awesome skeletons.

You have quite an artistic way about you, Godspeed. Very poetic, the words you use to describe your find. I like your posts.

Can you take a picture of it, in your hand? So we can visualize the size of the skull? It looks like a cat.

Mr critter, I don't think it's a sabertooth, because the canine would need to be bigger than that. Plus, these animal are extinct for a long time, so it would be almost impossible to find one like this without digging somewhere.

Here is a picture of a sabertooth skull

an opossum has an elongated skull and smaller eyes. Cat skulls remind me of monkey heads...with big teeth. Remember that the thicker, yellowed portion closest tot he bone would be surrounded by gingiva. The actual amount of tooth showing in a living animal would be much smaller, especially around the front incisors.
