    Default T-Rex still not eating

Well it's been one week on Sunday that T-Rex went into is new enclosure and as not eat since then.I just noticed 2 days ago he is shedding.

Should I still worry about him not eating?

I know there are more experienced members than I that have more insightful knowledge, but they will also want to know:

What is the temp in the cage? The humidity? Substrate? What kind of bulb/bulbs do you have? Basking spot temp? What are you feeding him? Is he active?

When I first adopted Tegs (Ironically named Tegasaurus Rex, Tegs Rex) he was a very picky eater and ate meager portions compared to what I understood he should. It may just be adjusting, however if you don't have the proper equipment his body won't say eat and he may enter a hibernation pattern, brumation, I think?

Anyone feel free to correct anything I've said if I'm wrong at all!

Don't forget if you really think/feel something is wrong nothing beats a quick trip to the vet!!!

Some lizards get extra shy when they are shedding because they may feel vulnerable. Are you putting him in a feeding bin? Maybe you can put a hide log or something into the bin so he doesn't feel exposed.

Assuming the enclosure is ok and he is just having relocation stress or being grouchy due to shed, have you tried any apatite stimulants like jumpstart or tried feeding him chicken baby food from a spoon?

TEgsREx had some good questions that make a difference. Is it a Colombian or Arg? Colombians can be picky eaters. My Colombian female is easily stressed and goes on hunger strikes.

We can provide more suggestions with more info.

    Hi,

T-Rex is a columbian gold tegu and i'm still feeding him the same thing as before he changed enclosure like ,hoppers, boiled eggs and superworms. Is basking spot is at 90F witch is the same as in the old enclosure but the probleme right now is that he is always hidding and never comes out except one he went in is water bowl and that was it for the week.

what is your humidity and ambient temperature? from what I know 80 degrees is necessary for digestion, but basking spots should be 100-120 degrees depending on where you look for info. Mine is 110 with an ambient temp of 80. Humidity should also be 60-90 I believe, but I think 80 is best? is that correct?

Your diet seems decent, but I'm not familiar with golds

Tegs Rex. Very well put in both of your posts .

I believe that he doesn't want to eat because he is in a new enclosure and he is shedding. My Tegus don't want to eat as much or not at all when they are shedding. They also get a bit moody. Please make sure the humidity is right or he gets some luke warm/ warm baths every day to help him shed better. After he is done shedding he should get back to normal.
