I've seen people use forest bedding, cypress mulch, or repti-bark. Which is the best substrate for a tegu?

Cypress Mulch is the preferred substrate as an aid to help hold the humidity. You can also use coconut fibre/husks. Just be careful not to over water. You want the substrate to be moist to the touch, not wet.
