    i agree every time i got to the pet shop I'm always telling people buying crickets & the store about how they should start using roaches over crickets & they all alway say the same thing "really uh, but they are gross" then thats the end on the conversation.

    Yes it is either that or people are unwilling to break away from the cricket for whatever other reasons.

    Well, within the next few weeks The Boyfriend and I will be starting our dubia roach colony. We've just been hearing too many great things about the benefits of it to NOT start one...

    ... although, I'll admit I'm gonna have to wear gloves when handling them, as they kinda give me the creeps.

    Well you don't really have to handle them on a regular basis. When I gather mine to send them to their doom I just have a big old 32oz. cup and get a scoop of the males.

    the females don't need to be thined out because the males are the ones that are the "feeders".

    yup what works best is nymphs & males, because you really only need a 1.9 (to) 1.12 ratio to get good breeding with out to much male "head butting"

    Right now I have one male and about 30 females...and it is working pretty good.
