    Default Burm vs. Retic

I am considering getting either a Burmese python or a Reticulated python within the next few months.
So what do you think? What have your experiences been? The info I have been getting off of the web has been inconsistent.

    Alright ....

Love, love, love the experience with both.
Both are excelllent snakes !!!! Depends on what your looking for. The Burmese is definitely more docile than a Tic. Definitely more action with a Tic. The Tic has hair trigger senses.

What specific Q's did you have ?

I was hoping to hear from you Angel=)

Well I Guess I wanted to know the size of each snake...the answers I get change from site to site.
I am going to build a cage that is 7'x4'x2' is that enough?
I keep hearing that both of these snakes are vicious...I don't really beleive that though
I mainly posted this to hear the experience of people that have kept them.

I've never owned one but had a reptile educator "Dan the Snake-man" live like 4 miles up the road of my childhood home, and i used to hang out at his house all the time. I loved both of those snakes, my favorite was the Tic, but i agree with angel on their behaviors

Yup! You got my attention ...Lol

The female Burm can get 16 - 20 ft. The male 10 - 12 ft ....on the average.
The Tic anywhere from 16 - 22 ft ....on the average. They have the super dwarf Tics - 6 -8ft. The dwarf Tic - 10 ft ....averages. I heard from many reliable sources the dwarfs and super dwarfs are more skittish.
My normal Tiger is puppy dog tame, my shadow ...Lol

Vicious, no. Of course, you know what they are capable of if much, much caution is not used. As like with any, do not have the smell of food anywhere on your person especially with the Tic. That includes in your knuckles (personal experience).

For the snake to feel secure you should start out with a small enclosure if starting with a baby and gradually up the size eventually needing 8ft or 10ft.

The enclosure should be large enough for the snake to make an 'L' shape.

I have never kept Retics, but my Burm is a sweetheart! We did a show at a nature center today and he let countless kids pet him (safely of course) with not so much as twitch. Like Angelrose said, you have to be cautious and have a certain routine. They can be nippy or skittish when younger, like most baby animals.
