Thanks Angel awesome pics. I am leaning toward the Burm and I contacted Limey of Royal reptilia to see if he will have a baby albino for me at the mid atlantic reptile show. If not I'm sure I'll find one there.

    Angelrose is right.

When you are picking between these two, you have to check for what kind of ''personnality'' you want. Most of burmese python are extremely lazy and are more preferable to be the ''snake that you relax with''. Compare to retics, who are much more active and curious, for people who want to see some action and following their retics in the house. Not to forget that retics seems much more intelligent than the burm.

In my case, I chose a burm to the retics, for the simple reason that I am the kind that like to relax, watch tv. That's the main reason why I choose the burm instead of the retics.

I worked with both (adult) and both can become a great and calm animal. They just need a lot of attention.

For the burmese python baby, most of them are extremely aggressive but will tame down fast. In the case of the retics, Captive Bred species are sometime already used to human presence at a young age. As for the size, I never seen a burmese getting bigger than 17 feet in captivity (and those are rare). I couldn't say the same thing for retics. Most of them can easily get 17 feet, but they are not as thick as the burmese python.

You will also see many comment talking about burm getting to 200 pounds. That is just wrong, a 200 pounds burmese would be a very fat and unhealthy one in captivity. A big female will get to 70-100 pounds.

    Hope it help.

When I lived in vegas, the reptile people at the swapmeet had like a 130lb burm. >_>
She wasn't aggressive just real antsy. They said they only feed her like a rat a week though, and she didn't look too 'fat'. My hubby took a pic, I'll post it if ya'll want.
