Pikey, someone else offered to take him, but I'll keep you in mind if something falls through. I'm not up to raising this guy because my hands are SO FULL already!

Geez, I hope I didn't stir any more nightmares, lol.

Don't worry, it's rare that I remember my dreams... probably a good thing considering what they're like.

I am so sorry Laura about what happend. May they all R.I.P. I know you tried your best. I was looking forward to breeding our Tegus one day but I'm scared now that I have to see what you saw. I don't think I can handle it. May God give you peace to your mind and comfort to your heart. The ones you do have are very good looking .

Thanks, Samantha. Other people breed and don't have issues. I have bred beardies for 10 years and only lost one little guy. This was just a weird event.

Strange story. It makes me feel lucky with all we've hatched. I wonder how many defective Tegu's Bobby hatches and never tells anyone?

I saw a film that the great Bert Langerwerf made about the tegu breeding ranch that he and his family built. In one scene, they had this big armful of eggs that didn't hatch successfully in the incubators. They returned those eggs back to the enclosures with the adult tegus. I was shocked for a second that they could do this, but it is as would happen in nature. My point was, here was this very experienced and productive captive breeder, who also studied reptiles in the wild, and still a high percentage of his eggs had problems. There are so many things that can be imperfect. That's why any species produces a large number of eggs -- the conditions for success in the world are such that only one or two offspring produced from a pair of most animals in nature will live to reproduce themselves. It's just so hard to take when those animals are your pets.

Laura. Your welcome. I think before we are going to breed our Tegus we will built a incubator out of a old fridge and play around with it. Just to make sure we get the temps and humidity right.

Dave. I was wondering that my self, too.

HernandosMom. Thank you for the info. I wish I could of seen that video.
