If you don't mind me asking. What did you do with him when he was outside ? Did you had him on a Reptile leash or did you had him in a bin or glass tank to bask in ?

Rich is not how much you have, or where you are going, or what you are.Rich is who you have beside you.

R.i.p. Iggy
a week ago i bought this tegu, from some ppl on hains city. After a day of having him with me i noticed that his body was shaking. It was like if his body wasnt able to support his own weigh, at first i though he was acting like that because he was scared but then i noticed that he was not even able to eat or grab his food, like a small piece of raw chicken.i tried to contact the previous owner to get some extra information on him, but they wouldnt answer the phone or txt me back. Anyway, all im trying to say is that for all of you that are reading this message and have never had a tegu or any ohter kind of reptile, please do your job, read, ask, watch videos, anything you dont know, and make sure you have enough time to care for your new pet.
I believe that if the previous owner had done any of this things, then i wouldn't. Have to be so upset bout loosing my tegu iggy for some irresponsible pet owner who did not care bout his needs, and though that by only having him in a tank of glass would be enough.
Only if you new how much it hurts me seeing him shaking the way he did, and knowing that he couldn't talk or let me know if he was in pain , and even when i tried to do as much as i could to help him get better it was to late.
And knowing that he was in this condition for a whole year and a half and they could have help him by just reading bout it. But it when unnoticed by his owners for to long.
Ps: Thanks to everybody that try to help me, keep in touch. ^_^
Once again, I'm so sorry for your tegu, and that you had to go through this. Perhaps you can take some comfort from the knowledge that he died in the presence of someone who truly cared about him.

You know what's also sad? If someone kept a dog or a horse the way those people kept their lizard, the ASPCA would be all over them and they could be arrested in some places. But since it was a reptile, I doubt that any agency would lift a finger. Thank you for trying to rescue this animal, and for sharing your story with others here.
That's pretty rough...I watched the video. You said Haines City...are you in FL? Did you get the tegu from Craig's List, the Internet, or a pet shop?
