When you ask about the calcium in chicken eggs, do you mean the shell? Yes, they can. Instead of chicken eggs, we've always used quail eggs (10 for 99 cents at various ethnic food markets) for our boy. Eggs are very fattening, though, and we try to use them mainly as an enticement when he isn't eating enough fruit. The shell on quail eggs are thinner than chicken. We hard boil the eggs then before serving crackle the shell all around by hitting it with a spoon. We cut the eggs in half lengthwise and push a blueberry into the yolk, and tuck each half into a half a globe grape. Hernando loves his tegu sushi. Another whole food with calcium that may appeal to your tegu is baby quail. You can get them at different ages from RodentPro. The day-olds can be eaten by a fairly young tegu and now we use the week-olds for our adult. If they seem too big, you can always cut the wings off and serve them separately. We thaw quail slowly, first moving them from the freezer to the butter compartment in the refrigerator door overnight (keep in a zip-loc), then in the morning at room temperature or on top of the floor vent for the blower. If you thaw them too fast, the internal organs burst and make everything taste like bile, and decomposition speeds up. That's also true with rodents.

Here is a link for you to check out if you want to. The breeder of the feeder rodents explains how to defrost the rodents. This is how I have been doing it.
